LUKE SHAW can establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice left-back next season after three difficult years at Old Trafford.

Injury, patchy form and doubts over his commitment have undermined Shaw’s progress since a £27million move from Southampton in 2014, with boss Jose Mourinho calling him out publicly several times last season.

But Mourinho is said to have told Shaw (left) he continues to have faith in him and has challenged the 22-year-old, who missed the final three weeks of last season through injury, to show total focus and nail down the left-back slot.
