Mamma Mia! Downton’s Lily in sequel
ACTRESS Lily James will star in the hotly anticipated sequel to the film musical Mamma Mia!
She is believed to be taking on the role of a younger Donna Sheridan, played by Meryl Streep in the first movie in 2008.
Lily, 28, is best known as the plucky Lady Rose in Downton Abbey, and as Cinderella in Disney’s 2015 live-action version.
The news of the British actress’s casting in The Hollywood Reporter stated that she had signed to appear in sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
The new film also stars Streep alongside Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, who all appeared in Mamma Mia!, and will feature Abba songs not used in the first movie.
