IN ACTION Hannah Cockroft wins gold in Rio

ITV, 8pm When ultra-pampered Chelsea Cockapoo Darcy started to pile on a few pounds, owner May decided enough was enough and sent her for a two-week doggy detox at the country’s most exclusive boutique dog hotel.

Set on the edge of the Duke of Norfolk’s 10,000-acre estate in Thetford, previous guests at The House Of Mutt have racked up bills heading towards £10,000.

A favourite with celebrities, there is year-long waiting list for possibly the poshest dog kennels in Britain.

“People say their kids go to Eton, their dogs go to House Of Mutt,” says owner Sarah Mountford, who has been charged with getting Darcy back in shape.

This is just the latest utterly astonishing story of a pampered pet from this hilarious series. Yes, there are really people who send their dogs chauffeur-driven to a rural retreat.

GREAT Britain boasts a brilliant team of paralympic athletes, and this meeting looks set to return us to the glorious spirit of the summer of 2012.

TOO MANY RETREATS Darcy C4, 7.30pm

In fact, May takes Darcy shopping, to restaurants and regularly throws tea parties for her pooch and her friends.

Perhaps if Darcy had stopped knocking back the cake and biscuits, she wouldn’t need a detox, eh?

It’s a dog’s life...
