RICHARD MARSHALL is hoping his Halifax players cash in on a major gamble by landing a place in the Qualifiers.
CATALANS coach Steve McNamara will continue to put his faith in French players as he looks to reignite the Dragons.
The Perpignan club have been criticised in recent years for relying too heavily on overseas imports, several of whom have failed to fire.
But McNamara fielded nine French-born players in last weekend’s defeat to Wigan amid an injury crisis, and has since brought prop Romain Navarete back to the club on loan.
The former England coach has been impressed with what he has seen of the homegrown talent.
McNamara said: “We are a French team and are representing France and the Catalans region.
“Those players will contribute a huge amount to the club and they’ve been very responsive so far.
“They’ve been a pleasure to coach and there’s some quality among them.” McNamara (left) says the absence of key men in recent weeks has not been an issue for him.
He added: “We’re no different to probably the majority of other clubs in Super League this season.
“There are lots of teams beset by injuries and suspension, and certainly we’ve been in that mix.
