Consumers’ 10% faith dip
CONSUMER confidence fell 10% in the last quarter as the wage crisis deepens.
April to June recorded the biggest slump since the end of 2014, accountancy group Deloitte said.
A poll found people are worried about disposable income and debt. The findings were echoed by data showing a spending dip.
Ian Stewart of Deloitte said: “A squeeze in living standards has dented consumers’ spirits.”
Economists predict figures out tomorrow will show the Consumer Price Index measure of inflation ticked up to 3% in June.
