4 in 5 kids at 11 are too idle
MORE than four in five pupils are not active the recommended hour a day when they leave primary school, a survey found.
The rate plunges from 28% when pupils are five to 17% at age 11 and is “alarmingly low”, said Public Health England.
Its study found 22% of all children worried about not being good at sport, rising to 29% at 11. Happiness levels fell from 64% at five to 48% aged 11.
PHE said: “The drop in activity from the age of five is concerning.”
