Murray is set to lose No.1 spot

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

ROGER FEDERER can overtake Andy Murray as world No.1 next month.

The Swiss superstar slipped to No.17 at the start of this year after ending his last campaign because of a knee injury following a Wimbledon semi-final defeat.

But despite skipping the whole clay-court season, his fifth win this season sees him close to within 1,205 points of Murray.

The Scot’s next tournament is scheduled for Montreal on August 7 – where he did not play last year – then defend the points he won in Cincinnati the following week. He has yet to confirm when he will return after struggling with his hip at Wimbledon.
