CILIC: INJURY ROBBED ME OF TITLE DREAM

MARIN CILIC revealed he broke down in tears because his blistered left foot stopped him giving Roger Federer a proper match. The world No.6 received non-stop treatment on the injury following his semifinal win over Sam Querrey – and took anaesthetics before the final. But he wept into his towel at 3-0 down in the second set before undergoing treatment. Cilic said: “It was the worst moment I could have experienced. “It didn’t hurt so much it was putting me in tears. It was just that feeling I wasn’t able to give my best on the court.”
