Lightning and hail make it a big fright out
VIOLENT storms bringing thunder, lightning, hail and torrential rain are set to make it a sleepless night for millions tonight after a day of sweltering heat.
The storms will arrive in the south from France this evening and move north across England and Wales early tomorrow.
The Met Office has warned of possible disruption caused by hail, flash flooding and lightning.
Met Office spokeswoman Nicola Maxey said: “On Wednesday we are expecting another lot of thunderstorms caused by unstable conditions driven by our own hot weather.”
The warm spell will come to an abrupt end on Thursday, when temperatures will struggle to reach 20C everywhere apart from the South East.
