ADDICTED PARENTS: LAST CHANCE TO KEEP MY CHILDREN BBC2, 9pm

In a large house in Sheffield 12 families live together, but this is no ordinary house. It’s the UK’s only family rehab centre, where mums and dads are battling addiction before their children are taken away from them for good.

Filmed over a year, this two-part documentary follows some of these families from the beginning to the end of their six months of treatment. And it’s tragic to watch as these parents desperately try to ditch drugs or alcohol (or both) to keep their family unit together.

One little girl snuggles up to her mother and says: “My mum told me she would do whatever she could.”

Service manager Leanne says: “There is no time for games. The stakes are too high here.”

But the Phoenix Futures’ Specialist Family Service believes in giving people a second chance, and you’ll be rooting for them to kick their habits for the sake of their children.
