Back off Blair, let Jeremy do his job

-

So, Tony Blair reckons if Jeremy Corbyn was elected Prime Minister, the country would be in real trouble (Mirror, July 16). This man will never attain anything near Jeremy Corbyn’s popular status as a true socialist. In the end, all he achieved was the disdain of the people who’d loyally voted Labour.

Tony was nothing more than Bush’s poodle, and his deceitful ways led to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with no end. We must not give this man any credence – he is damaging to the cause.

Corbyn is the only one brave enough to stand up for what he believes in. What Blair might not understand is that rank and file Labour supporters love Corbyn. We have voted out of Europe and those who disagreed should accept that fact.

Bob Hogarth, Washington, Tyne & Wear Tory Blair’s claim that a Jeremy Corbyn-led government with leftwing policies would leave the country flat on its back are the ramblings of a man who will do or say anything to get back in the public eye. If I remember correctly, it was Blair and his obsession with the elusive weapons of mass destruction that left the Labour Party on the floor and it’s Jeremy Corbyn who has since picked Labour up off the ground. Jeremy might not have delivered a knockout blow to the Tories in the recent election, but he certainly has them on the ropes.

Len Goodwin, Doncaster Will someone please tell Tony Blair to jog off back to his millionaire lifestyle and stop trying to interfere with politics by criticising Jeremy Corbyn yet again?

He had his turn as leader and took us into a war which has had terrible consequences, culminating in more terror attacks in Europe.

P Pawley, Derby People should listen to Tony Blair, after all he managed to get Labour elected three times. Yes, he might have taken us to war in Iraq, but hindsight is a wonderful thing and no one could have foreseen the consequences back in 2003. I think Blair is right about Brexit and Corbyn – both will prove to be a disaster for Britain.

I wish we had someone of Blair’s stature to guide us through Brexit because I fear we are on the edge of an abyss.

C Young, Edmonton, North London Why can’t Tony Blair just keep his nose out of today’s politics? He had his chance and failed rather miserably, managing to cost the country billions of pounds with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention the unnecessary waste of life.

M Tuplin, Ulceby, North Lincs Tony Blair is right about Jeremy Corbyn. If he becomes PM it would wreck this country’s finances and we’d end up with more debt than ever before. That would be followed by a period of even tougher austerity to get it under control. Corbyn might seem like the new messiah to the low paid, but the reality of him in power

would be very different.

John Carter, via email Tony Blair wants to reverse the wishes of the British people who voted in favour of Brexit by the back door. The last time he ignored our wishes and went to war, the result was British and US troops being killed and chaos in Iraq. How does he sleep at night?
