1% cap now hits experts who set pay
THE Tory Government’s own pay experts have said the 1% cap is making it tough to do their job.
The Senior Salaries Review Body said the “rigid” limit made it “difficult to operate effectively”.
It also said the judges, military officers and top civil servants it sets pay for were “demotivated”.
A separate report by the Armed Forces Pay Review Body told of frustration at the “unfair” cap. But both bodies backed a 1% rise.
Labour’s John McDonnell demanded Chancellor Philip Hammond apologise for branding nurses and 999 crews “overpaid” while raking in £10,000 a month in rent.
