Not exactly home comforts but I always take the kind of medical kit that would not look out of place on Holby City.
If you have been hospitalised for days after getting altitude sickness in the Andes followed by a jungle bug in the Amazon, you tend to be over-cautious.
While I’ve not used much of it myself, I have helped other journalists who got sick on press trips (the road to Damascus stomach upset incident springs to mind. One poorly travel writer mended before it got too messy).
I never travel without a smartphone power pack (or two) of course, but the real home comfort is a travel electric toothbrush. Got to go give those gnashers a proper going over daily.
