We often go on girls’ weekends together and always pack our light, retractable feather duster as hotel rooms just don’t come up to scratch when it comes to cleanliness, no matter how many stars they have.

The first thing we do when we check in is have a quick flick around bedside cabinets and the skirting boards. We’d even take a handheld vacuum if it wasn’t for the measly luggage allowance on flights. A packet of Hobnobs with our favourite dunking mugs are a must, too, as we can’t stand those thimble-size cups and stale biccies. We are homebirds at heart.
