Selfish Hammond isjustatypicalTory

-

FINALLY, the truth is out there. Now we know what the Tories really think of our armed forces, firefighters, NHS staff, police and emergency service workers – that no matter how many hours they work, no matter what distressing sights they see, they are overpaid.

As MPs are also public servants, I am sure the public will agree they are grossly overpaid.

If the Prime Minister needs to know why she lost her majority, she needs to look no further than the Chancellor and his crass comments. Call another election and see what good “bribing” the DUP will do for Mrs May and her party of rich boys.

I wonder if Philip Hammond is referring to MPs with his comments about overpaid public sector workers? After all, they enjoy a good salary with numerous perks. Or perhaps he’s referring to members of the House of Lords who are paid £300 a day just for turning up. Who does he think would be most missed if they didn’t turn up for work? An NHS worker, a teacher, a carer, or an MP? The sheer arrogance of the man beggars belief.

Multi-millionaire Chancellor Philip Hammond says nurses, teachers and firefighters are all overpaid. He is the worst type of Tory – selfish, greedy and hypocritical, with an ‘I’m alright Jack’ attitude. Jeremy Corbyn battled long and hard to deny the Tories an outright general election majority and thank goodness he did, otherwise they would have run riot.

Stephen Dixon, Redcar, Teesside

Why is it that Chancellor Hammond thinks that public sector workers are overpaid? When anyone queries the obscene salary packages of the Tories’ pals in the City, they always respond with “if you want to keep the best people in these positions you have to pay them appropriately”. The hypocrisy level of this Government grows daily.

How does Philip Hammond have the effrontery to accuse our medical staff of being overpaid?

Perhaps if he took his blinkers off he would see how nurses are having to use foodbanks. Our medics are worth their weight in gold.

Denis Sewell, Redcar, Cleveland

If Philip Hammond thinks public sector workers are overpaid compared to private sector workers – a typical Tory attempt at promoting divide-and-rule and the politics of envy – how would he describe those private sector CEOs whose salaries are more than 100 times larger than those of their

frontline staff ?

Pete Dorey, Bath, Somerset

It made my blood boil to read that Philip Hammond thinks public workers are overpaid, while he is living in rent-free homes paid for with taxpayers’ cash. To call him a hypocrite is an understatement, while his arrogance is simply astounding. I would like him to do just a day’s work alongside nursing staff, firefighters or the police and see just how he copes with the hard work they do every day for a pittance.
