A MOMENT IN HISTORY
Reading your article about Dunkirk veteran Arthur Taylor, 96 (July 15), it was interesting that he said when he reached Dunkirk, he had never seen such a long queue in his life. It struck me that only the British could form an orderly queue in such a desperate situation.
We should collect the stories of people like Arthur before they all pass on to a better place. Those who fought in the Second World War were truly an inspirational generation and should never be forgotten.

Unpaid and underpaid carers save the country billions, yet Carer’s Allowance is a paltry £62.10p a week.
Payment should be much higher with fewer restrictions.
Remember, if carers stopped doing what they do then the burden would fall on the NHS and residential care, which would cripple the country.

The only way to prevent a hard-left purge of good Labour MPs who don’t share their views is for sensible Labour supporters to join their local party branch and then they will be able to out-vote any unfair decisions.
This would prevent a repetition of the damage done by Militant to Labour in the 1980s.
