Woman who kept 27 poodles in filthy home gets 10yr ban
A WOMAN who kept 27 poodles in squalid conditions has been banned from keeping dogs for 10 years.
A court heard 21 animals were squashed in five metal cages and six in one room at Heather Green’s home. Five were underweight and many had dental diseases.
RSPCA inspector Lewis Taylor said: “These dogs were kept in inadequate conditions and were sadly suffering as a result. It was a miserable existence and no way for animals to live.”
Green, 69, of Launceston, Cornwall, said she felt her care of the dogs was sufficient and denied causing unnecessary suffering. But she was found guilty by Bodmin magistrates. She was given six weeks’ jail suspended for a year and fined £750.
The RSPCA is trying to find the dogs new homes.
