Beeb gets a big bash treatment
THE OPEN joined the BBC bashing by dismissing the Corporation’s golf coverage as “tired and outdated”.
Sky Sports took over golf’s oldest Major last year from the Beeb.
Peter Alliss caused outrage in 2015 by saying of Zach Johnson’s wife Kim Barclay: “She is probably thinking ‘if this goes in I get a new kitchen’.”
R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers insisted: “Last year we took what was frankly a fairly tired and outdated broadcast – and raised the whole level of the way it was shown.”
