Cable walks in as leader
VINCE Cable is the new Lib Dem boss – after none of the party’s 11 other MPs stood for leadership.
At 74, he becomes the oldest person to head a British political party since Sir Winston Churchill became Tory leader at 71.
He takes over from Tim Farron, who quit following an election row over whether gay sex was a sin.
Sir Vince – Business Secretary in the Coalition – vowed to fight hard Brexit. “Government can’t deliver the painless Brexit it promised,” he warned.
