WIFE With tragic Nicole ORENTHAL James Simpson was born in 1947 in San Francisco where, aged 13, he joined a gang.

He landed in youth custody for a week after a fight, but was saved from a life of crime after showing football talent at college.

In 1969 he joined the Buffalo Bills, where he set records and earned the nickname The Juice .

After retiring from the game in 1979 he went on to a career as a sportscast­er and actor, playing a dim-witted assistant detective in The Naked Gun and its sequels.

He wed Marguerite Whitley in 1967 and they had three children. While still married to her, he met teenage waitress Nicole Brown. He divorced Marguerite in 1979 and wed Nicole in 1985.

After a fight with Nicole at a 1989 New Year’s Eve party he admitted beating her, but later said it was “no big deal”. She filed for divorce in 1992. Two years later her body was found with that of pal Ronald Goldman outside her home in LA.

OJ vanished and the ensuing police chase went out live on TV. He was cleared of murder in 1995 after a 133-day trial. But in 1997 he was ordered to pay £26million to the families of Nicole and Ronald for their wrongful deaths.

In 2008 he was convicted of armed robbery and kidnap and jailed for a maximum 33 years.
