Budding Plant looks to thrive

EUROPEAN amateur champion Alfie Plant is leading the race for the Silver Medal after his opening 71.

The 25-year-old from Kent, who was watched by 150 family and friends, said: “It lived up to expectations and more – I absolutely loved every minute.”

Plant (right) added: “The good news is that I’ve given myself a chance and that’s all you can do at this stage. You dream about it, but to see all the stands and crowds, it’s even better.”
