Fire hero saves baby’s ashes
A MUM of four has thanked a firefighter for rushing into her blazing home to rescue the ashes of her late baby daughter.
Dee Breach, 35, fled with her family as a loft fire spread – before realising that Harmony’s remains were inside.
She said: “I was distraught. I can’t bear to be without her and could not face losing her twice. I felt such a connection to her.” A firefighter ran into the house in Woodhatch, Surrey, without safety equipment to retrieve the ashes as the ceiling crashed down around him.
Dee, who lost Harmony during the pregnancy, said: “That was unbelievably brave. I’ve always had respect for firefighters but you don’t realise how much they risk until you need them yourself.”
