Death horror at the races

A RACECOURSE worker has died in a freak accident at Haydock Park.

Yesterday’s meeting was abandoned after stalls handler Stephen Yarborough was reportedly “run over” by the mobile traps that restrain horses at the start of a race.

The accident happened just before the fourth event of the day, the 3.30pm.

An air ambulance landed on the course in Newton-Le-Willows, Merseyside, but Mr Yarborough, from Grimsby, Lincs, died later in intensive care.
