ROCKET’S POWER BURNS HIGGINS

-

FOUR-TIME world snooker champion John Higgins is looking forward to a lucky break away in Thailand, after crashing out of the Hong Kong Masters.

The Scot won four frames on the bounce to lead old foe Ronnie O’Sullivan 4-2, before losing 5-4 in the elite eight-man event.

Higgins, 42, still has a couple of days in the city before travelling to Thailand, but he’ll be trying to stay out of the sun after being burnt. “Me and the family will just do some gentle sightseeing until we fly out to Thailand in a couple of days,” revealed the World Championship runner-up.

“I went to a water park and my face is all red after spending five hours in the sun, so I’ll be trying to avoid that.

“We’re going for a weeklong holiday in Thailand, before some tough practice and qualifiers back in England.”

Higgins’ chase for the £100,000 top prize ended at the first hurdle. The world No.2 was the heavier scorer with 87, 72, 61 and 81 breaks.

But ‘The Rocket’ came from behind to progress in the tournament with 47, 65, 43 and 42 runs of his own.
