Murphy flies the Magpies nest for place at Forest
NOTTINGHAM FOREST have signed Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy for an undisclosed fee.
The Republic of Ireland forward (above), who only joined the Magpies from Ipswich last August, has signed a three-year deal with the Reds.
He scored six goals in 18 appearances as the Toon secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt last season.
But the 34-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez.
And Murphy has now opted to move to the City Ground where Forest are in need of a new frontman following the departure of Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough.
