WE’RE ON TU A GOOD THING

Hannon’s classy speedster Tupi fancied to hack up in Hackwood

-

TUPI can floor favourite Magical Memory in the bet365 Hackwood Stakes (3.00) at Newbury.

After racing in Dubai and Qatar at the start of the year, the Richard Hannon trainee lined up for the Listed Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster on the first day of the new turf campaign in April, and scored by four lengths.

Tupi kept good company on his next two outings, finishing sixth to Tasleet in the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire in May before claiming the same position behind The Tin Man in the top-level Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

The step back down to Group 3 will be a big help to Ryan Moore’s mount, while forecast overnight rain would also aid his chance.

Moore is also the man to follow in the Listed bet365 Stakes (2.25), in SPARK PLUG which has leading claims.

Brian Meehan’s horses continue in excellent form and the way Spark Plug returned to winning form in this grade at Sandown last time suggests he should be competitive with a penalty.

Excuses are beginning to run out REMARKABLE, for but Frankie Dettori’s mount gets one last chance in Newbury’s opening Bathwick Tyres Handicap (1.50).

A hike in the weights was inevitable after his 14-length margin at JOHN Haydock 10 weeks ago, but CONSTABLE

remains of interest despite top weight in the Betfred TV Summer Handicap Hurdle (2.10) at Market Rasen.

Later on the picturesque Lincolnshire track’s card, the Nicky Henderson-trained DAYS OF HEAVEN is on a roll and looks up to collecting a hattrick in the featured Betfred Summer Plate Handicap Chase (3.20). HIGH HOPES

At Newmarket, steps up to Listed class for the Betbright Aphrodite Stakes (2.40), but David Simcock’s daughter of Zamindar has won three of her last four races and there is plenty more where that came from.
