DUNN: BEST IS YET TO COME

- FROM ADAM HATHAWAY

GB head coach Paula Dunn warned her squad can only improve before the next Paralympics in 2020 after shattering expectations at the world champs.

UK Sport set a target of 26-30 medals for these games. Hannah Cockroft, Sammi Kinghorn, Georgie Hermitage and co beat that easily.

In total they won 39 gongs, including 18 golds, eclipsing the 13 titles from Doha two years ago.

And Dunn says the squad’s age profile means it can only get better in Tokyo in three years.

She said: “The bankers have banked which is nice and then some new faces have come on the podium.

“They are going to get better and better, they are young and the target is 2020.

“It is a really competitive team and we have got a really good pipeline of athletes coming through.”
