Ties with Moscow bring his role into question

IF the probe into Russia’s meddling was a bus, Jared Kushner just threw brother-in-law Donald Jr under it.

Kushner, who is a senior adviser to President Trump and married to his daughter Ivanka, has taken incredible care to separate himself from the notorious meeting that Don Jr arranged. A meeting it was hoped would furnish the Trump team with damning dirt about Hillary Clinton supplied by the Russian government.

Now, as Kushner faces questioning by US politicians about his ties to Russia, he saved his skin by sacrificing his brother-in-law – saying it was all his idea. There is no proof yet that Kushner broke the law or colluded with Russia to sway the election. But increasingly, there are ties with Moscow that bring his role into question.

Until the truth of his secret meetings becomes clear, he should be barred from the White House.
