Farah has fears over farewell

The multiple Olympic and world champion signs off at next month’s World Championsh­ips in London where he defends his 10,000m and 5000m titles.

Farah, 34, who will be switching to road racing in September, has chosen to bow out at the scene of his 2012 Olympic triumphs and knows it will be hugely emotional.

Ahead of the 10,000m on Friday week, he admitted: “I’m not quite in the shape I’d like to be at this stage, but I’m moving well so I hope it’ll go well on the day.

“London means a lot to me and that’s partly why I’ve chosen to end my track career here. It will be emotional.”

UK Athletics is confident of staging the World Para Athletics in London again in 2019. UKA chairman Richard Bowker said: “We have received very positive indication­s, so there is the will to make it happen.”
