1982 v INDIA

THE OVAL is a good surface to bat on so when I got myself in against an India attack I felt comfortable against I wanted to make the most of it. You get full value for your shots so I pulled a few out of the locker and until Ben Stokes unleashed hell in Cape Town it was the fastest double hundred by an Englishman. I should have got more than my 208 but was out playing a reverse-sweep – a shot I wasn’t very good at.
