TRAGIC TOT Suraiya A MUM has won her battle to bring her terminally ill daughter home from hospital to die.

Suraiya Parviaz, two, has spent the past four months on life support at Leeds General Infirmary. Mum-of-six Shamin Akhtar said doctors refused to let her go home, saying Suraiya was in the best place to manage her mitochondrial disease, but have had a change of heart.

Mrs Akhtar, of Bradford, said: “I accept Suraiya’s condition is life-limiting, but she can smile, laugh and pull away.”

The hospital has agreed to do a tracheotomy op, so Suraiya can end her days with the support of a 24-hour ventilator, surrounded by her family.
