Australian killed by US cop ‘may have hit his patrol car’

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

AN Australian woman killed by a US police officer may have slapped the back of his patrol car, it has emerged.

Justine Damond, 40, was shot as she stood outside the vehicle after calling 911 to report a sex assault near her home in south-west Minneapolis. A search warrant from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is probing the incident, says: “Upon police arrival, a female ‘slaps’ the back of the patrol squad. After that, it is unknown to BCA agents what exactly happened, but the female became deceased.” The BCA does not say if the slap was carried out by Justine. Officer Mohamed Noor, now on paid leave, fired twice from the passenger seat. Justine, weeks away from marrying her US boyfriend, was hit in the stomach. Her death on June 15 caused widespread outrage.
