BROWN BEARS

-

The brown bear is one of the largest land predators on the planet. They are found all over the northern hemisphere but by far the biggest are in Alaska.

They lose a quarter of their bodyweight hibernating for six months and emerge starving. The bears in Katmai National Park, in southern Alaska, travelled hundreds of miles. There may be up to 30 as they await the salmon.

But these solitary beasts are not used to company, so it’s a real test of patience and strategy as they jostle for position by the river.
