Relative gets bomb that killed family

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

A COLLECTOR has been handed a fragment of a German bomb that killed four members of his family in the Second World War.

Workmen found it 10ft under the street where Chris Kilminster’s mother saw her house and most of the others there destroyed.

The direct hit on an air raid shelter in 1942 killed 35 people, including his sister, uncle, great-gran and mum’s first husband.

Chris, 70, has spent 50 years gathering artefacts and information from the raid on his home city Bath.

He said the bomb that killed his relatives was “the final piece” of his collection.

Chris also said he has met remorseful Luftwaffe pilot Willi Schludecker, whose aircraft dropped a bomb on Bath the night his family lost their lives.
