PETS GOOD FOR US ALL

-

# National pet charity Blue Cross agrees that dogs offer huge health benefits to their owners by getting them to take more exercise (Mirror, July 25).

Many people adopt from us for this reason.

However, we believe that pets offer so much more than this.

They can also be teachers, comedians, confidants and best friends. In times of heartbreak, a pet can be a shoulder to cry on.

Their value to society extends way beyond physical health benefits, and spreads into mental health, education, personal development and even into productivity in the workplace. Julie Stone, Rehoming Operations Manager Blue Cross Burford Oxon

# What a wonderful decision by the Supreme Court to scrap tribunal fees. This was a nasty Tory law designed to deny employees justice with regards to cases of unfair dismissal or ill-treatment.

Well done to Unison for bringing this case. K D Thornhill South East London

# It’s true that the BBC has wrongly weighted their pay towards male employees.

But ITV and Channel 4 have recently poached stars by offering even higher pay – Robert Peston, Paul Hollywood, Susanna Reid and Christine Bleakley.

I wonder how male and female pay rates compare at these channels. Terry Marriott Waterlooville, Hants
