Barkley ends hunt for mystery attacker

A PROBE into an “unprovoked attack” on England footballer Ross Barkley has been shelved.

It means the yob who was seen on CCTV punching him to the floor will never be traced because the Everton player “doesn’t want to pursue this matter”, police have revealed.

Barkley, right, was hit repeatedly by a man in a cocktail bar on a night out in Liverpool with pals in April. The 23-year-old was knocked to the floor and suffered a black eye. The decision over the assault came after Everton boss Ronald Koeman said the £60,000-a-week star will leave the club.
