School has no GCSE entrants
A FREE school has been placed in special measures after failing to enter any pupils for their GCSEs.
The Route 39 Academy said its 13 Year 11 students were “neither academically ready nor sufficiently mature or resilient” for the exams, according to an Ofsted inspection.
The report said: “The decision to hold back an entire cohort is an unreasonable and unorthodox one.” The school in Higher Clovelly, Devon, “strongly refutes” the judgment.
