ROCK IS SO HARD TO CRACK

-

AS’S straight course has been good to us down the years, so let’s hope the Gigaset International (3.00) is as kind today.

This seven furlong handicap is a race full of trends, the most important being:

Four and five year-old’s dominate

You need a horse carrying less than 9st 2lb

Course form is vital and you want a horse with winning or placed form in races with at least 16 starters

High (especially) or very low drawn horses do better than those in the middle of the pack

Given that the majority of the pace horses seem to be drawn middle to high we will — rightly or wrongly — stick to the stands’ side runners and find we have a short-list of two horses who stand out as trends qualifiers.

Given that well-fancied runners have begun to do well in this — the last two winners have both started at single figure prices — we are not too disappointed Ryan Moore’s (above) mount FASTNET ROCK is one of them.

He's been on a massive upward curve this season, winning the Victoria Cup in May.

Thing's didn't got right in the Hunt Cup, but you can see Moore holding him up for a late run today in first time blinkers.

Have 2pts win at 7-1 in places and 2pts ew about MOUNT TEHAN at 40-1 with Betfair and Power.

He's been treated with kid gloves since a fine fifth in Doncaster's Spring Mile on comeback and boasts Ayr form last year which proves he's effective on the ground.
