JACK HOBBS

BET OF THE DAY

-

THE revelation that the ‘wrong horse’ won Thursday’s 13:40 at Yarmouth sounds like something out of a Dick Francis novel, except Dick Francis novels were never that exciting.

Two-year-old Mandarin Princess was declared the winner of Thursday’s 13:40 race at Great Yarmouth. But a scan later identified the horse as threeyear-old stablemate Millie’s Kiss.

Microchips are everywhere these days. In fact I know a guy who works at the Mirror in IT who definitely has a microchip on his shoulder.

Punters and pundits have always suspected people inside racing know more than we do.

I’m pretty certain everyone knows more than I do.

Innocent mistake or not it, makes you wonder how many times the wrong horse has won a race in years past.

Microchipping horses was only introduced in 2009 although the microwave chip has been around as early as the 1980s.
