Louis in axe Factor row

Judge splits brothers duo in brutal Chair Challenge

THE X Factor’s harsh Six Chair Challenge has caused a family feud – after Louis Walsh sent home one of two performing brothers.

The pair had auditioned as a singing guitarist duo, but the judges said they “didn’t work” and split them into solo artists. Louis, 64, is mentoring the Boys and gave the youngest of the brothers a chair after he performed a Plan B hit.

But he then axed him from the show, saying the older lad was a stronger performer. A source said: “It’s the most savage Six Chair Challenge ever. Louis knew what he was doing and thought it might cause a reaction, but he wanted to have the strongest six he could for his Boys’ section and there wasn’t enough room in his line up for both brothers.”

The Six Chair Challenge is one of the most controversial parts of the ITV show, as contestants sit down to “gain” a place in the next round, but can later be replaced. It leads to swaps and high drama, but not all viewers are fans.

Nicole Scherzinger, 39, fled in tears during her session this year, after she was booed while attempting to whittle her Overs category from 20 down to six.

And Sharon Osbourne, 64, was jeered during her selection of the Girls who will go to the Judges’ Houses stage.
