EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer faces a make-or-break showdown with his on-screen wife after he confesses to cheating on her.
His character Mick Carter will tell Linda (Kellie Bright) he shared a kiss with his son Lee’s ex-wife Whitney.
The explosive encounter marks Bright’s comeback after eight months of maternity leave.
The bitter recriminations will fill an entire episode, with the emotional “twohander” confrontation sparked by Mick’s confession of the illicit kiss.
The fury and heartbreak will leave viewers wondering if this is the end for the soap couple – who were teenage sweethearts and have four children.
The scenes will have a resonance for Dyer, 40, who is living apart from his own wife Joanne and their three children, following claims of an affair with Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding. Dyer, 35, and Harding are said to have had a brief fling while filming comedy film Run for Your Wife in 2012. Earlier this month, Dyer was seen moving his belongings into a rented flat in Hertfordshire rather than returning to the family home in Essex, after several weeks of staying in a hotel near the EastEnders set. He was helped to move in by his screen wife Bright, who was spotted carrying bags into the two-bedroom flat. Earlier this year, Dyer took an extended break from the soap for several weeks, returning in May. Rumours of a separation from Joanne surfaced the following month. The showdown will be screened on BBC1 on Monday, August 14.
