Club faithful have US tycoon in crosshairs
US billionaire Stan Kroenke has found plenty of enemies among Arsenal fans, who accuse him of hampering the club’s top-flight success.
He now has now made many more with the UK launch of his trophy hunting channel. Low-key Kroenke, 70, known as “Silent Stan” after his reluctance to do interviews, bought his first stake in Arsenal 10 years ago and completed his takeover in 2011 by securing a 67% stake.
Last year, fans protested against high ticket and merchandise prices – and a lack of silverware. Kroenke owns a string of clubs across a range of sports, including the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams and the National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets Crush.
He made money in real estate and then married Wal-Mart heiress Ann Walton. He is worth an estimated £5.7billion.
