Vaccinatio­n checks are urged ahead of travel After large outbreaks of measles were reported across Europe, especially in Italy and Romania, Public Health England has reminded travellers to make sure children are up to date with two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine ahead of their summer holiday.

England recorded 27 confirmed cases of measles importatio­n from July 1 last year to May 31 this year, 14 of which were linked to European travel. There were also 52 measles cases linked to music festivals in England and Wales in 2016.
