Terry clear in bet row
JOHN TERRY has been cleared of insider dealing over his contrived farewell appearance for Chelsea.
Terry’s exit at Stamford Bridge in May, when he was substituted on 26 minutes, corresponded to the shirt number he had worn since his debut for the Blues in 1998, and he admitted the timing was premeditated.
The FA launched an investigation after at least three punters won fourfigure sums, at odds of 100-1, by placing bets on the specific minute of Terry’s withdrawal.
But after consulting bookies the FA decided there was no evidence of “deliberate” spot-fixing.
