Waterloo Holly’s grief as husband dies at 32

-

ILLNESS Ross & Holly WATERLOO Road actress Holly Matthews has paid tribute to her 'incredible” husband after he died of a brain tumour, aged just 32.

Ross Blair, the son of ex-Aston Villa and Coventry City player Andy Blair, was diagnosed in 2014.

He had brain surgery and chemotherapy, but died in a hospice on Saturday with Holly, his parents and his sisters at his bedside.

Holly, 32, said: “Just as the final whistle was blowing for the end of Saturday football, my incredible husband took his last breath.

“The loss we are feeling is unfathomable right now.” She said telling their daughters Brooke, six, and Texas, four, that their dad had died had been “extremely tough”.

Holly, who has also appeared in Casualty and daytime soap Doctors, added: “He was the best dad, he chose to be around them, he adored them. I have lost my best friend.”

Property developer Ross had been well enough to go on a family holiday abroad earlier this year, but suffered a seizure in May when he got back home to Nuneaton, Warks.

He spent his final months in a Coventry hospice. Holly said Ross had loved his daughters “very much” and added: “The coming months will be tough, but we will ride the waves and do what we need to.”
