I’ve not been expecting you, Ms Bond

Halle: 007 should never be female

FORMER Bond girl Halle Berry says there should never be a female James Bond.

The Die Another Day star, 50, insists the films must not follow Doctor Who by casting a woman in the lead role.

She said: “I don’t think you can change Bond to a woman. We can create a new Bond character that’s a woman, and give her a new name.

“I want women to be tough but I don’t know if Bond should be a woman. That series is steeped in history from Ian Fleming’s stories.” Halle played NSA agent “Jinx” Johnson with 007 Pierce Brosnan in the 2002 Bond film. Daniel Craig is returning as Bond in 2019, but an eighth 007 will be named after that. Model Cara Delevingne, 24, said: “Everyone’s saying I’m meant to be a Bond girl. I’m working on James Bond first.” Jodie Whittaker, 35, was named as the first female Doctor Who lead last month.
