Commuters ‘rip off’ claim
LONDON commuters pay up to four times as much as those in other European capitals, a study reveals.
A monthly season ticket for the 35-mile trip from Maidstone, Kent is £412.50.
In Germany it is £99.80 a month from Luckenwalde to Berlin, 36 miles away.
The RMT exposed the figures and said rail bosses treat commuters as “cash cows”. But the Rail Delivery Group, representing train firms and Network Rail, claimed services here are quicker and more frequent.
