ANDI LAUNCHES MAC ATTACK

-

ANDREAS WEIMANN insists he has returned to Derby a better player after claiming Steve McClaren destroyed his confidence.

The Austrian attacker (right) was shipped out on loan out in January by McClaren to Wolves, where Paul Lambert was keen to sign him permanently before being sacked.

Gary Rowett is in charge at Pride Park now and Weimann, 25, preparing for tomorrow’s opener at Sunderland, said: “I wasn’t really playing at Derby and under Steve McClaren there were a lot of players in front of me who he picked. My confidence became quite low. “I am back at Derby with a clean slate – and happy to be here. “Wolves helped me massively as I feel a better and new player now.”
