Pioneer’s help plea
BRIAN DEANE – who scored the first goal in Premier League history – says more needs to be done for those who established the set-up.
The Sheffield United striker netted in 1992 against Manchester United.
But he wants a support network for the pioneers from the league that has become a cash-cow.
Deane, 49, said: “You’re left to yourself, if truth be known.
“We can talk about courses – but a lot of the time that’s if you understand what you want to do. There should be a support network for people who have genuine issues.”
