It’s a Brum deal for Emma and her ancestors

-

There was a timely ring to the worries expressed by Emma Willis at the start of

“I don’t know what’s about to unfold. I don’t know what’s about to happen. But, hopefully, it’s a positive outcome.”

I bet the very same thoughts were running through her mind as she tried to conduct that interview with actor Paul Danan at Tuesday’s Celebrity Big Brother launch. We must wait and see whether Dangerous Danan’s outcome ends up positive. Luckily, Emma seemed pretty happy by the end of last night’s climb up and down her family tree her 15-year TV career as well — her Brum accent. She slipped so easily back into it I was totally expecting to hear the full “We wunna be togetha” before the hour was out.

Unfortunately, she stayed in the Midlands only long enough to discover one of her ancestors was a glue-maker who got into a sticky spot with environmental health.

From there, it was over to Ireland where Emma was surprised to discover roots on her father’s side. It was a mixed bag for Emma in the Emerald Isle.

One of her ancestors was involved in a violent sectarian incident, while another was a celebrated marble mason, credited with introducing beautiful altars to the country.

Understandably Emma homed in on the achievements of the latter.

Well, when you have been hosting Big Brother for as long as she has, I guess focusing on the positives becomes almost second nature.
